Cable & Wireless USA Inc., a voice, data, Internet and messaging service for businesses, leased 2,260 sf in 800 Brazos. The three-year lease has a value of $181,000. The 164,741-sf office building is located in Austin's CBD. Michael Wiley of the Austin office of Chicago-based Equis Corp. represented Cable & Wireless and Vic Russo of Jones Lang LaSalle negotiated the deal for the San Diego-based Shidler Group.

Around the corner, Comerica Bank renewed a five-year lease for a bank drive-through facility at 206 E. Ninth St. in Two Commodore Plaza. The lease is valued at $335,000. The Shidler Group represented itself in the talks; Harold Ginsberg brokered the deal for Comerica.

In January 2001, Shidler bought 800 Brazos, Two Commodore Plaza, the Exchange, in the northeast submarket; and the Southfield building in the south Austin submarket.
