Winter Park Boasts Strong Month to End Year

GRAND COUNTY, CO-The ski resort owned by the city of Denver posts attendance boosts in December 2000 in the face of the recession, air travel worries and a moderate snow fall.

GRAND COUNTY, CO-Winter Park Resort, which is owned by the city of Denver, received a nice present for the holidays–the best skier visit totals ever for the month of December. The resort west of Denver is up 2% from the previous record set in 1993 and up 2.4% from attendance figures in December 2000.

The resort doesn’t release actual numbers for competitive reasons.

Reservations, meanwhile, were up 3% last month, compared with December 2000. In November, reservations were up 20% from the same period in 2000. And reservations booked through Winter Park Central Reservations are up 4% for the remainder of the season. Following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, reservations were down 25%.
