Stone and Webster of Houston designed the Pike county power plant, off I-55 in the Holmesville Industrial Park. Baton Rouge-based Shaw Constructors is the general contractor. The plant will will have four combustion turbines, four heat recovery steam generators and two steam turbines.
The first 600 megawatts of power generation will be completed by summer 2003. The remaining 600 megawatts are scheduled to come on line later that year. Once fully operational, the plant will employ 20 people.
