Mike Tipps of the Austin office of Colliers Oxford Commercial has represented the building owner, BAE Systems. Mike Durgin of Danville, CA-based CM Realty, negotiated the renewal for Providian. The Austin call center, positioned at 6500 Tracor Lane, is on property owned by BAE Systems, a defense business based in England.
Last week, Providian said it will eliminate about 800 jobs by the end of the second week of January. When those reductions are complete, Providian will have reduced its work force by approximately 11% since announcing its cost-cutting plan in October. The strategy is projected to save about $60 million annually. The plan included closing a Henderson, NV call center, taking out 500 jobs.
