The city plans to thank the military branch at the open house from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Marine reservists erected the building skeleton for the arena portion. Other contractors completed the clubhouse.
The club and the city will use the facility on East Lewiston Street on a shared basis, six months at a time. The club will use the building from mid-October to mid-April, and Ferndale will have the facility from mid-April to mid-October for community and youth events.
The club has been using the Roseland Curling Club in Windsor, ON, across the US-Canadian border, for the last four years in anticipation of building a facility here.
