''This is certainly one of the largest lease deals in southern Colorado in many, many years,'' Alex Ringsby, the Cushman & Wakefield broker who handled the deal with fellow C&W broker Paul Kahn tells GlobeSt.com.
The center was built in 1968 with only 67,000 sf. Columbia house bought it in 1993 and expanded it to its present size, Ringsby says.
Last spring, Columbia announced it would close the mail order, CD/video distribution center by Dec. 31. eliminating 500 jobs. It also said it planned to close its Bloomington, IN processing center.
The company is consolidating its facilities to a distribution center it has in Terra Haute, IN, Ringsby says.
The center sits on 36 acres at 4038 Dover Dr.
''It overlooks I-25,'' Ringsby says. Interstate 25 provides a straight shot north to Pueblo, Colorado Springs and Denver. To the south, it's an easy drive to Santa Fe, NM and Albuquerque.
