Growing Chip Company Beefs Up Lease to 15,000 SF

AUSTIN-The two-year-old Layer N adds 6,000 sf to its lease at Research Park Plaza II in the far northwest submarket. The Austin-based chip company started 2001 with four employees and ended with 42. More growth is forecast for this year.

AUSTIN-Layer N Networks, an Austin-based semiconductor company, has gobbled up space vacated by a bankrupt dot-com company to expand from 9,000 sf to 15,000 sf at Research Park Plaza II in the far northwest Austin submarket.

The company took office space that had been occupied by eLaw, a company that provided online information to law firms. It filed for bankruptcy protection last year. As a result, CarrAmerica, which developed and leases the building, put together a direct lease deal with Layer N, Michael Brown of CarrAmerica’s Austin office, says.
