The assignment, which depending on the level of activity is worth an estimated $3 to $5 million annually, includes property in the US, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and Latin America. Jones Lang LaSalle will manage Microsoft's lease acquisitions, dispositions and renewals, as well as supervise the build-out of interior field office space. The firm will also provide integrated Account Management services to coordinate all worldwide activity.

"Utilizing the efficiencies of a single service provider will allow our Field Real Estate organization to operate at a more strategic level, to ensure we effectively translate the needs of our diverse business functions into the optimum real estate solutions for Microsoft's employees," James Ableson, Microsoft's manager of US and international real estate said in announcing the news.

Thomas Wilkinson, international director of Jones Lang LaSalle, will assume responsibility for the assignment as global account manager for Microsoft. A senior leadership team at Jones Lang LaSalle will support Wilkinson on an ongoing basis.

Wilkinson tells GlobeSt.Com the contract fits neatly into the company's fundamental business strategies. "One of our strategic goals is to be the preferred service provider for large, multinationals around the world. We want to prove one-stop service," Wilkinson says.

Julien J. Studley, Inc. and several other firms in various parts of the world had managed Microsoft's portfolio previously.
