Fort Collins, home to Colorado State University, has weathered the recession fairly well. For example, KB Home recently unveiled plans for an 850-unit single-family and condominium project in southwest Fort Collins, which also will include a small retail center, Dennis Welsch, president of KB Home Colorado tells GlobeSt.com.

The community, called Provincetowne, will have a completed value of about $140 million. In the first phase, 141 of the 331 homes will be ''affordable,'' aimed at buyers earning 80% of the area median income.
