Rare West Coast Project Readied for Review

SEATTLE-Into a 24-story tower, Aspen Murray LLC is planning to stack 64 condominiums above a 120-room, four-star hotel. But there are no office or retail spaces drawn into plans, which come up for review next week.

SEATTLE-The project’s architect, Jeff Fox, says the make-up of 1000 First Avenue is a rarity on the West Coast. Fox who is with the Seattle office of San Francisco-based Gensler tells GlobeSt.Com mixed-use projects in this portion of the country generally contain office and/or retail elements. This 280,000-sf development, however, is strictly hotel and condos.

“The idea of blending a mix of condominiums with hotel functions is predominantly an East Cost way of thinking,” says Fox. “One West Coast property that comes to mind is the Four Seasons in San Francisco, but there aren’t many. This is one of the first in Seattle.”

The ground level of the 24-story high rise at First Avenue and Madison Street will contain a lobby and restaurant with some meeting and conference space. Floors two through five will provide 131 parking spaces.
