Marina Corporate Center is a 52,000-sf center that provides light industrial, flex, R&D and office product. It is located at 2801 Merced St. Smart Therapeutic plans to use the class A office/R&D space as its headquarters and for research and development.
Dan Bergen of Colliers represented the lessor, CCKX Leasing, while Ed Grammens with CB Richard Ellis represented Smart Therapeutics, a company that is developing products to prevent and treat brain aneurysm rupture, stroke, heart attack and other types of vascular disease.
Bergen says that San Leandro has made a compelling case for locating biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the city.
"First, the rents are much more cost-effective than over on the Peninsula," says Bergen. "Second, the city offers a central Bay Area location for companies concerned about the commute times of their employees."
