ST. PAUL, MN-A new stadium task force is recommending that Minnesota build two new stadiums, one for the Twins baseball team and the other to be shared by the Vikings and University of Minnesota football teams. Both stadiums should be built in the metropolitan area, according to the resolution, approved on a 13-4 vote with one abstention.

The recommendation will be forwarded to Gov. Jesse Ventura and the 2002 Legislature.

The task force was firm in declaring the Twins, Vikings and Gophers need new places to play. The Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission has insisted the Metrodome could be fixed for the Vikings and Gophers. But those teams, especially the Vikings, want no part of that plan.
