In his role at Vulcan, Thomas will oversee the design and construction of a broad range of Vulcan projects and programs, which include the Washington State Football/Soccer Stadium, among other commercial project developments such as 505 Union Station, the Stadium Arts program and The Hospital (London). Thomas will also direct site selection, budgeting, planning and a variety of cost and quality controls on Vulcan's projects including the corporate art program and large-scale public artworks installations.

Prior to his position at Vulcan, Thomas was CEO of B A R Architects in San Francisco where he managed the 100-person architectural design firm on large-scale commercial designs and high-end residential design, management and construction.

During his tenure there, the firm received the California Chapter AIA's highest honor, the "2000 Firm of the Year Award," for sustained design excellence. Thomas is a past board member of the San Francisco Chapter of the American Institute of Architects; a charter member of the Advanced Management Institute's COO (Chief Operating Officer) Forum, a national roundtable of Architectural/Engineering Industry Leaders; and is a past member of the San Francisco Bay Area Risk Management Forum.
