Clear Channel Consolidation Lands at Penn Field

AUSTIN-Clear Channel Communications rolls seven Austin radio stations into one site at the World War I-era Penn Field. The 27,300 sf is located in the field's armory. Finish-out is gearing up as the stations prep to move from N. Lamar and Barton Springs Road.

AUSTIN-The Penn Field development, the first air field in Austin, is getting a different kind of air traffic: San Antonio-based Clear Channel Communications Inc. is consolidating its seven Austin radio stations into 27,300 sf at the 16-acre South Congress Avenue site.

The company will move into Building F, which was the armory for Penn Field in the World War I era, says Dan Roth, a partner in Southwest Strategies Group, the property owner. Clear Channel’s stations will exit 705 N. Lamar Blvd. and 811 Barton Springs Rd.

After Southwest Strategies does some work to the building, Clear Channel will install several broadcast studios, Roth tells GlobeSt.com. An end-of-summer move-in is anticipated and will bring the project’s occupancy to 65%. Jerry Creagh of Southwest Strategies represented the firm in the negotiations and Michelle McDonald of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Austin office handled talks for Clear Channel.
