Jacobson's, a regional specialty store chain, filed a Chapter 11 petition for reorganization on Jan 15 with the US Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, Southern Division, in Detroit.
Subject to court approval, the company announced plans to close five under-performing stores and eliminate 520 associate positions in them. These five facilities are Columbus, OH; Toledo, OH: and Clearwater, FL; Osprey, FL and Tampa.
Jacobson's currently operates 23 specialty stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas and Florida.
