The Johnny Carino restaurants are in Oklahoma City, Albuquerque, Bozeman, MT and Athens, GA. All opened since Dec. 3 and are operated by different franchisees as part of the what the company calls its aggressive franchise growth strategy. The company said the restaurants have set sales records, but did not say what the records are.

The franchisees are Kampco Foods in Oklahoma City; Sandia Food Group in Albuquerque; the Montagna Group in Bozeman; and Ameliorate in Athens.

Fired Up's principals Creed Ford and Norman Abdallah plan to open 30 Johnny Carino's in 2002 and have development agreements to build 200 franchised locations in 13 states and 12 countries over the next seven years. Four new partners will sign development agreements in the next quarter for more than 75 new restaurants.

Fired Up operates and franchises 41 Johnny Carino's Country Italian restaurants and a Johnny Carino's Pizzeria in Texas, Colorado, Idaho, Arkansas, California, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Montana and Georgia, as well as Egypt, Bahrain and Kuwait; three Gumbo's Louisiana Style Cafes and The Brown Bar in Texas and Colorado.
