Mile High Makes Way for Parking

DENVER-Demolition of Mile High Stadium is a hazardous process, so much so that the public is being discouraged from watching Turner Construction crews at work. Work is planned to be completed by next season.

DENVER-Wrecking crews are demolishing Mile High Stadium, the former home of the Denver Broncos. Mile High was built in 1960 and was only replaced last year with the $400-million Invesco Field at Mile High, which sits next to the old stadium.

Interior and exterior environmental remediation, such as removing asbestos, began several months ago, according to the Metropolitan Football Stadium District.

Such activities were required before the actual demolition, being overseen by Turner Construction. Turner was the main general contractor on Invesco Field.
