Cris Sullivan was named vice president of asset management operations and will head the East region. Sue Ansel also was named vice president of asset management operations. She will head the West region. Both Sullivan and Ansel have been with Gables for 15 years.

Gables named Doug Chesnut senior vice president of investments for the West region. Chesnut will have responsibility for all real estate investment activities in Houston, Austin and Dallas. He has 17 years of experience in the real estate industry and most recently was responsible for operating a 21,000 apartment home portfolio with Trammell Crow Residential.

The company also announced the resignations of Jordan Clark, senior vice president and chief investment officer, Steve Sweet, senior vice president of development and acquisition, in Houston and Catherine Cabell, senior vice president of REIT Operations. Clark will remain on the board of trustees and Wheeler will assume the role of chief investment officer until a replacement is found.

Gables said it expects to report a charge for severance of $2.2 million, or seven cents per share, for the fourth quarter of 2001.
