"It will tell the story of the birth of 'Denver's next great neighborhoods'," he adds.

According to Webb, "This is an important milestone for the Stapleton redevelopment. For those who are first-time home buyers, those who are looking for a new home, and for those who are just curious about the Stapleton transformation, the Stapleton Visitor Center will give citizens one of the first 'hands-on' opportunities to learn about new housing, parks and businesses that are part of this new community."

The center features a video wall that integrates aerial footage of the property with "virtual reality" images of the first neighborhoods to be built at the former airport.

Another highlight includes a network of eight "pavilions," each with its own high-tech sound system and a display that offers glimpses into the residential, office, retail and open space aspects of the new mixed-use neighborhoods. The pavilions will also provide information about Stapleton initiatives that include sustainable development, an educational environment that fosters "lifelong learning," modern telecommunications linkages and other elements that will create a walkable, diverse urban community.

The center is a clear-span, steel-framed building designed with energy efficient materials that include special window glazing and carpeting made of recycled materials.

Currently located at the corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Syracuse Street, the building can be "deconstructed" and moved to a new location for future re-use.

Over the next two decades, Stapleton is expected to include 12,000 residences, 3 million sf of retail, and 10 million sf of industrial and office space.
