Westborough, MA-based developer Miraj Ahmed applied for a comprehensive permit for the project which enables him to override the town's zoning laws because the town has not yet met its require 10% affordable-housing requirement. Elaine Lazarus, the town planner, tells GlobeSt.com that the town has approximately 2.7% affordable housing.
There was concern that the proposed 56-unit condominium complex would adversely impact the town's water supply because, notes Lazarus, "the town doesn't have excess capacity in its municipal water supply." The ZBA approved the project provided the developer dig a well for the complex.
Lazarus says that Ahmed has a purchase and sale agreement on the land, which is currently owned by a Mr. Comery.
