Town Lake Apartment Project Lands on City Agenda, Again

AUSTIN-The 200-unit Town Lake Apartment tries one more time to garner Austin City Council's final OK for the development. The final step in the project's start has been on the agenda at least five times since the initial OK in June 2001.

AUSTIN-An apartment project comes before the Austin City Council this week in what could be its final step toward a zoning change.

The Vintage on Town Lake, a 200-unit high-rise, is planned for the shore of Town Lake, just east of Interstate 35 at 1400 Riverside Dr. The developer, John Cathey of Waco, is requesting a change for more units and a taller building, possibly as high as nine stories. The project is seeking the highest-density development category permissible for its development. Jim Bennett, the developer’s representative, calls it a mid-market complex.
