AUSTIN-An apartment project comes before the Austin City Council this week in what could be its final step toward a zoning change.

The Vintage on Town Lake, a 200-unit high-rise, is planned for the shore of Town Lake, just east of Interstate 35 at 1400 Riverside Dr. The developer, John Cathey of Waco, is requesting a change for more units and a taller building, possibly as high as nine stories. The project is seeking the highest-density development category permissible for its development. Jim Bennett, the developer’s representative, calls it a mid-market complex.
