The Executive Suites plans to add an 80-room expansion to its 143-room hotel, which is located on the shoreline. The expansion, which will take about a year to complete, will cater to business travelers by featuring oversized rooms.

Homewood Suites, the first of its kind in Oakland, is located near Jack London Square and will provide residential-style suites with fully equipped kitchens and separate sleeping and living areas.

The $10 million, 140-suite project, which was developed by Oakland Hospitality LLC and will be managed by Hilton Hotel Corp., was originally scheduled to open last year, with $1 million in HUD funding through the City of Oakland and permanent financing through GE Capital Corp. However, the HUD funding fell through and the developer has to come up with private funding. The hotel will open next month.
