That's not unreasonable, as the DUT includes about 20 adjacent acres in the Central Platte Valley. Also, the nearby East West Partnership is developing a nearby luxury loft project nearby with a completed value of about $1 billion.
Many of the participants say it is the single most important project to be undertaken by Denver since the Denver International Airport opened more than five years ago.
The Regional Transportation District is expected to pick a team to work with next month, but could come up with a short-list as early as the last week of January.
When completed, the intermodal facility, will connect all of the modes of transportation in the metro area, as well as potentially millions of square feet of retail, offices, and high-density housing.
Teams include:
* The Staubach Co., which includes architect of Richard Rogers, who has the ear of Prime Minister Tony Blair and has been described as the most important living architect in England.
* Jones Lang La Salle, whose team includes Denver-based David Tryba Architects, who has designed a number of historic buildings near the DUT; and the New York architectural firm where he worked for five years, Beyer Blinder Belle.
* RNL Design, a Denver-based design firm that is the largest architectural firm in the Rocky Mountain Region. Its team includes the giant SOM Architects.
* Chicago-based US Equities Realty, whose team includes Gensler Associates.
* New Jersey-based Louis Berger Group, whose team includes Bovis Lend Lease and Wallace Floyd Design Group.
* SMWM of San Francisco, whose team includes Denver-based Urban Design Group; HNTB Sports Entertainment, which designed Coors Field and Invesco Field at Mile High and Laurie Olin landscape.
There also are two other teams: URS Corp. and Carter Burgess.
