NATICK, MA-The town of Framingham is currently trying to decide what to do with a 14.5-acre parcel it owns here. Framingham’s board of selectmen tried to sell the parcel but that idea was shot down at a town meeting because many residents here want to see the land remain undeveloped.

According to Mark Purple, Framingham’s assistant town manager, Framingham used to have its sewer beds and pump stations on this site. He insists that the town has no plans to develop the site but last year the board of selectmen put out bids on the property in an effort to generate revenue for the town. A $1 million bid from a developer, Frances Venuto, was rejected by the town. “The town felt there were unanswered questions,” Purple tells GlobeSt.com. Some people want to see the land, which is zoned for residential use, remain as conservation land, notes Purple, while others weren’t sure the price was fair. There were also concerns that Natick could have the rights of first refusal on the site.
