Many of the medical school's programs in its Commonwealth Medicine division are currently located in leased space and would be relocated to the new building. The school is also currently in the process of doing the design work to replace the façade and window system on the 1.55 million-sf medical school building, which also houses a hospital operated by University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care. Throughout the three-to-five-year project, the new building will provide temporary space to staff, services and programs that will be temporarily displaced. The school plans on moving into the building in the spring.
