University Acquires 81,500-SF Building for Med School

WORCESTER, MA- The University of Massachusetts-affiliated Worcester City Campus Corp. acquires 100 Century Dr. here in the Worcester Corporate Center for $6.8 million. The 81,500-sf building will be used by the University of Massachusetts Medical School while its building undergoes an approximately $50 million renovation.

WORCESTER, MA-The University of Massachusetts-affiliated Worcester City Campus Corp. has acquired a three-story office building here at 100 Century Dr. in the Worcester Corporate Center for $6.8 million. The 81,500-sf building will be used by the University of Massachusetts Medical School to consolidate a range of programs as well as provide temporary space for the school while its building undergoes an approximately $50-million renovation.

Many of the medical school’s programs in its Commonwealth Medicine division are currently located in leased space and would be relocated to the new building. The school is also currently in the process of doing the design work to replace the façade and window system on the 1.55 million-sf medical school building, which also houses a hospital operated by University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care. Throughout the three-to-five-year project, the new building will provide temporary space to staff, services and programs that will be temporarily displaced. The school plans on moving into the building in the spring.
