A site adjacent to the Renaissance Center is envisioned for it, with some of its facilities to be shared with General Motors Corp. workers.
Snyder says there are reports that development talks between Compuware and GM are underway, with the former committed to proceeding with the project.
Also, the Automotive Group of Johnson Controls Inc. has outlined plans for a new headquarters on a 360-acre site to the Salem Township plan commission. No firm details about costs or square footages were provided, Snyder says.
Credits and grants from the Michigan Economic Growth Authority are pegged to a project estimate of approximately $168 million for the JCI building. Included with the headquarters is to be a technical center, a day care building, and a health and fitness center.
"Reportedly Johnson Controls would like to break ground this year but much will depend on winning all the necessary approvals from government agencies," Snyder says.
