Union Buoyed by 2 Key Development Projects

DETROIT-Not only is the $200-million River East multifamily project on the Detroit River in the works, a $168-million building in Salem Township for Johnson Controls is being discussed, which is good news for the Great Lakes Construction Alliance.

DETROIT-Developments are still active in Southeast Michigan, according to Guy Snyder at the Great Lakes Construction Alliance in Detroit. The proposed River East building is to be a $200-million multifamily structure for an estimated 3,000 employees for CareTech Solutions, a health care information technology subsidiary of Compuware.

A site adjacent to the Renaissance Center is envisioned for it, with some of its facilities to be shared with General Motors Corp. workers.

Snyder says there are reports that development talks between Compuware and GM are underway, with the former committed to proceeding with the project.
