Tenants Demand Reappraisal After Rent Spike

SAN DIEGO-The increase double and even tripled rates for tenants at Otay Mesa airport. The tenants association, which will meet Feb. 12 to discuss the dispute, has accused the city of failing to conduct a proper appraisal to justify the more costly rents.

SAN DIEGO-Commercial tenants at Brown Field are demanding the reappraisal of land values there in the wake of sharp rent increases last month by the city of San Diego. The increase double and even tripled rates for tenants at Otay Mesa airport.

The city called for a rent increase in December. Leaseholders are asking for smaller rent increases and up to two years to put them in place, rather than the current six months.
