Area Drops in Multifamily Building Permit Rankings

ORLANDO-The city ranked sixth in the nation in the first nine months of 2001, down from second place in 1999, according to a new University of Central Florida study by Dr. David F. Scott Jr. Las Vegas has led UCF's private construction intensity index since 1998.

ORLANDO-Although multifamily is supposed to be everybody’s favorite investment vehicle, the number of private construction permits pulled in Orlando for the first nine months of 2001 are down by 20.3% from the record permit volume in 1999

The ranking was part of a new study by Dr. David F. Scott Jr., executive director, Dr. Phillips Institute for the Study of American Business Activity, and Phillips-Schenck Chairholder, University of Central Florida.

Orlando was ranked sixth in the nation in apartment construction activity, behind Las Vegas, Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, Atlanta, Phoenix-Mesa and metro Charlotte.
