The building's unique exterior design includes painted hinges on the building's corners and a painted copyright symbol on the bottom corner of the building. The paint job was done by a San Francisco painting company, Flying Colors, in 1981 and has become a familiar landmark among Oakland residents.
The Hill Manors Apartments building, located at 461 Bellevue Ave., and the adjacent Hill Court Apartments, located at 465 Bellevue Avenue, are situated on one parcel in the Lake Merritt district. The Hill Manor Apartments is a seven-unit apartment building and the Hill Court Apartments is a 15-unit apartment building. The apartment units range from $785 - $2750, and there are few vacancies.
