In a released statement, Thomson says Cushman & Wakefield's strong New York headquarters and its high profile national clients were among the reasons he made the switch.

Thomson will continue to focus on landlord representation. Team members William Baker, Raymond Janney and Douglas Jacoby come aboard with Thompson.

Boston's real estate industry has seen much reshuffling recently. In August 2001, a group of brokers from several large firms established Richards Barry Joyce & Partners, focusing on tenant representation in Greater Boston. This past September, three Meredith & Grew's technology brokers--Roy Hirshland, Greg Hoffmeister and Mark Cote--left the firm to form T3 Realty Advisors LLC which caters to the needs of tech-based clients.
