Port Gains $4M, Pickle-Producing Tenant

PORTLAND-The Port of Portland will begin collecting $17,000 a month in rent in May from Dean Pickle and Specialty Products Co., which signed a 20-year lease for 11 acres in the Rivergate Industrial Yard for curing cucumbers. The property is adjacent a processing plant Dean purchased in 1999.

PORTLAND- Dean Pickle and Specialty Products Co in May will begin forking over $17,000 per month for 11 acres of the Port of Portland’s 16-acre Rivergate Industrial Yard for use as a pickle manufacturing facility. The land is adjacent a processing plant that Dean Foods purchased from Steinfeld’s Products Inc. in 1999.

Dean Pickle–a subsidiary with Dean Foods, now part of the $10-billion, Dallas-based Suiza Foods conglomerate–secured the 20-year lease in December. The lease can be extended to 30 years via two 5-year options.
