DEDHAM, MA-Wight and Company has proposed developing a 60-unit condominium project here on East Street. The developers are applying for a comprehensive permit to bypass local zoning laws if the project has at least a 25% affordable housing component and the town has not met its 10% requirement of affordable housing. Dedham has just below four percent affordable housing.

But according to Richard Ruggiero, development manager for the project, called Eastbrook Crossing, “we are trying to comply as much as we can.” To that end, Wight has moved ten of the townhouse units originally proposed to be sited close to a conservation area back to the apartment building site and donated those two acres to the town. The project is now located on two and a half acres.
