The 58,000-sf store anchors the shopping center, boasting a tenant roster that includes Hollywood Video, Dollar General, Mr. Gatti's and Kentucky Fried Chicken. The 122,921-sf neighborhood shopping center was built in 1981 and remodeled in 1998. Austin-based Quick & Co. leases the center.
The new store pushes Albertsons store count ahead of the eight stores that Houston-based Randall's operates in and around Austin. Both grocers trail market-leader, San Antonio-based H-E-B, which has 22 stores and two Central Market stores. Albertsons has another store pending in Rollingwood, which has granted zoning changes. Albertsons has not said if it will go ahead with the store. To mark the opening, Albertson's donated $500 to the Austin Children's Shelter and $500 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Capitol Area.
