Developer Ousted From Fire Station Project

NOVI, MI-Greystone Construction also is running late in building the 63-acre Main Street Novi project, and has had legal troubles with tenants and other brokers. It was given one last chance to catch up last month.

NOVI, MI-The city has fired the general contractor of a new $2.5-million fire station, the same developer that is facing trouble with other projects in the city. The council this week voted to exercise its rights to call in the performance bond on Greystone Construction, says Clay Pearson of the city manager’s office.

Pearson tells GlobeSt.com the company was behind schedule for the construction of the new fire station and training facility site at 10 Mile and Wixom roads.

The company owner, James Chen, is also facing legal trouble with other developments, including tenants at the 63-acre Main Street Novi project, which features retail, residential and office uses. Greystone was the general contractor on much of the project.
