New Convention Center About to Take Off

DENVER-Work could kick off with a bang later this month when the 14-story Terracentre building is demolished. The $268-million Colorado Convention Center project adds 300,000 sf of meeting space Downtown.

DENVER-The initial demolition and construction of the $268-million Colorado Convention Center could begin later this month. The demolition will include the razing of the 14-story Terracentre building.

Demolition will allow direct access to the center for the first time from Speer Boulevard, allowing conventioneers to stay off the Downtown grid, says Curt Fentress, architect for the project that will double the size of the meeting space to 600,000 sf.

Fentress says that the new convention center will be as recognizable as the Opera House in Sydney, Australia.
