Proposals Sought for 95-Acre Redevelopment

SAN DIEGO-The properties involved surround the Sports Arena here, including the arena parking lot, three apartment buildings, two shopping centers and two office buidlings. The city stands to raise its rental income by several million dollars annually.

SAN DIEGO-City officials are seeking proposals from developers to help redevelop about 95 acres around the Sports Arena in the Midway District.

A City Council committee has recommended that the full council call for proposals on how best to use the property. The city collects $2.37 million in annual rent payments on the property, says Will Griffith, the city’s real estate assets director. With redevelopment, it should generate $6 million to $10 million annually, he says.
