Financier, Developer Victor Posner Dead at 83

MIAMI-Victor Posner, a Baltimore, MD-born real estate millionaire who accumulated a stable of commercial and industrial companies from the 1960s to the 1980s and won an unsought reputation as a corporate raider, died Feb. 11 at 83. He was being treated for pneumonia complications at the Miami Heart Institute.

Posner moved to Miami Beach from Baltimore in 1954 and acquired millions in real estate assets in South Florida but his takeovers and takeover attempts of companies such as Royal Crown Cola, Sharon Steel and Fischbach Corp. of New York garnered the headlines.

In its most recent Florida real estate developments, Victor Posner Enterprises was building a 590-unit luxury apartment complex on Executive Center Drive in West Palm Beach as well as 21 high-end homes at Ballen Isles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens.
