nCUBE has leased one of two 30,000-sf buildings that comprise Mittleman Properties' 167 West development since 1988. In July 2000, after Nike moved out, nCUBE master leased the second and promptly subleased 60% of it to Intel for 18 months. Intel reportedly bought its way out of the lease last month, clearing the way for nCUBE to relocate its headquarters from California.

nCUBE has been operating in Portland for about 19 years. Until now, Portland has been the company's engineering and manufacturing headquarters. More than 100 people now will be working for the company in Portland.nCUBE President Michael Pohl says one benefit of having its headquarters will be the talent pool, which is filling up given the state's 7% unemployment rate. "As our business opportunities expand, we hope to tap the wealth of engineering talent in the region as the company grows," said Pohl in announcing the relocation earlier this week.

A well-known name in the business of streaming media and video-on-demand or VOD, nCUBE has built and deployed the world's largest single location video server for Kingston Communications in the United Kingdom, as well as the largest single location video server in the United States for Time Warner Cable's Los Angeles Division.
