Ryan Takes Over $71M Coffman Union Project

MINNEAPOLIS-The 349,000-sf project on the University of Minnesota's Memorial Union is expected to be done by the end of this year. Ryan Cos. took over when 85% of the demolition had been completed.

MINNEAPOLIS-Ryan Cos. US Inc., recently chosen to complete a $71-million, 349,000-sf renovation of the University of Minnesota’s Coffman Memorial Union, says it expects the project to be done by the end of this year. The Minneapolis-based commercial real estate firm says the main goal of the project at the University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities campus are to add capacity and services to the 60-year-old building while restoringthe character of the original architecture within a tight schedule and budget.

Ryan Cos. was selected to complete this project after 85% of the demolition was completed, at which time the scope of the project was revised to meet budget parameters. The University of Minnesota also selected Ryan Cos. to provide design-build services for the Law School addition and renovation completed earlier this year.

Architectural firm Ellerbe Beckett has been subcontracted by Ryan Companies to join thedesign-build team for this project.
