Property Owners to Vote On Service Taxes

VISTA, CA-Owners of the city's more than 20,000 properties are going to the polls to decide whether to tax themselves -- or face big cuts in city services.

VISTA, CA-Voters will go to the polls to see whether owners of the city’s more than 20,000 properties will be asked to tax themselves or face cuts in city services.

Property owners in the Shadowridge neighborhood and the Business and Technology Park are expected to vote via mail-in ballot on the new taxes as early as March, with other areas of Vista expected to follow.

The city council voted Tuesday to create new assessment districts that will pay for streetlights, landscaping, street sweeping and traffic signals. However, state law requires property owners to approve new taxes.
