Jacobs to Oversee Construction for $100M US Courthouse Upgrade

WASHINGTON, DC-The General Services Administration has settled on Pasadena, CA-based Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. to serve as construction managers for the $100 million renovation and expansion of the E. Barrett Prettyman US Courthouse building. The project entails the addition of a 351,500-sf annex, with 250 indoor parking spaces, to be linked to the original Third Street and Constitution Avenue structure by an atrium.

“Jacobs is pleased to have been selected for this project at a site of such great historic significance,” Jacobs Group vice president Warren Dean says. “The award also underscores our commitment to GSA, an important Jacobs client.” Princeton, NJ’s Michael Graves & Associates–along with the District’s SmithGroup Program Management, Inc.–designed the 50-year old building’s new addition, which will house space for the District Court, Magistrate Court, Bankruptcy Court, Court of Appeals, US Attorney, US Marshals and US Trustees.
