Swinerton Builders bought the corporate office tower for $12.9 million from Circle International Group, Inc., a San Francisco-based global transportation, supply chain management, and information services company. Circle, which is now a wholly owned subsidiary of EGL Inc., built the property in 1986. The property, located at 260 Townsend St., was listed in 2000 with an asking price of $37 million.

Swinerton plans to relocate its headquarters from 580 California Street and will occupy the entire building, which is currently 90% vacant. Edward Suharski and John Jensen of Grubb & Ellis represented Swinerton in the deal. J. Russell Sherman and Christopher Aust of Cushman & Wakefield represented Circle.
