The refurbishment will entail both exterior and interior improvements. Two new arched entries will be added to the complex, as well as faux windows with wrought iron railings on the second level and new lighting elements. In addition, the property's signage and color scheme will be updated.
The project's architect is Long Beach-based Perkowitz + Ruth, Studio One Eleven and the general contractor is Charles Pankow Builders Ltd. of San Francisco. The property, which is owned by Des Moines-based Principal Life Insurance, will remain open during the renovation. The project is scheduled for a summer completion.
The center is located at the southwest corner of Hawthorne Boulevard and Silver Spur Road on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. It has 71 specialty shops and is anchored by Pavilions, Rite Aid, T.J. Maxx and Pier 1 Imports.
