This new RealEnergy on-site power system, large enough to provide the total power needs for 750 to 1000 average sized homes, marks the 13th on-site power generation installation completed by the fast growing company during the past year. RealEnergy also has 12 other installations currently underway locally which will create power on-site by utilizing a combination of CHP and solar systems, depending on the building's requirements and available space.
These are not backup or reserve power generators, according to RealEnergy chairman Daniel Cashdan, but systems that now provide up to 50 percent of a building's power needs on a daily basis. Cashdan said that on-site power generation is fast becoming a preferred way for building owners to protect their investments from unreliable power availability, volatile power costs and a growing problem--security concerns associated with being totally dependent on the public power grid. CHP is a cornerstone of the President's National Energy Policy and has been widely embraced by policy makers in California and New York, as well.
According to senior vice president of property management for CommonWealth Partners, Ted Bischak, the security and reliability of having on-site energy was the driving force behind their decision to produce their own power. Operating on a daily basis, the systems installed at our properties by RealEnergy provide cleaner and more reliable energy than the grid. In addition, they can provide power and cooling to our tenants in the event of an outage from the local utility, Bischak added.
