A.J. Wright has taken occupancy of a 23,813-sf store at Pelham Plaza, which is located at the intersection of US 1 and Pelham Parkway near the Westchester-Bronx border.
"This highly successful retail property occupies a prime location on Boston Post Road with a traffic count of 37,000 cars per day," says David Silver, corporate director of marketing for Levin Management Corp. "Tenants have also been drawn by the region's large population. The consumer base is outstanding with more than one million people and an average 2000 (annual) household income of $71,352 within a five-mile radius. The shopping center is located within two miles of Co-Op City, a major high-rise housing cooperative in the Northeast Bronx that boasts approximately 50,000 residents.
"These factors, plus a renovation of the common areas, have helped us to attract quality retailers like A.J. Wright," Silver adds. "Our tenant roster, in turn, continues to drive traffic to our property and further strengthens its position as one of the area's leading shopping destinations."
A.J. Wright currently has 33 locations in the U.S. TJX Companies also operate 663 T.J. Maxx stores, 559 Marshalls' locations and 102 HomeGoods stores in the U.S. The retailer also operates additional stores in Canada and Europe.
Pelham Plaza's other major tenants include anchor Big Kmart, Modell's, Citibank, Mandee, Dress Barn and OTB. Currently, just 5,000 sf of space is currently available at the property that is owned by Levin Properties, an affiliate of Levin Management Corp.
