Multifamily Wins January Permit Pulling

SAN DIEGO-A new report finds commercial construction slowed in San Diego County for January. New commercial construction in January amounted to just $5 million, roughly $65 million less than one year ago.

SAN DIEGO-Commercial construction slowed in San Diego County in January, although multifamily residential picked up some steam, according to a new report.

According to a Construction Industry Research Board report, permits were pulled for 984 multifamily units in January, the strongest month since January of a year ago, when permits were pulled for 1,176 multifamily units.

However, new commercial construction, which includes both office and retail buildings, amounted to just $5 million for the county in January. For the same period a year ago, some $70.5 million in commercial permits were pulled.
