David A. Sampson, the assistant secretary of economic development, presented the check Friday to New Braunfels officials for the Central Texas Technology Center, a 30,000-sf building on property adjacent to the New Braunfels Municipal Airport. It will offer training through the Alamo Community College District. The center also will be a one-stop facility for workforce development issues.

The project is a partnership between the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, the Seguin Chamber of Commerce and the college. They are raising another $2.75 million for the project.

The technology center grew out of an economic development study the New Braunfels chamber commissioned. The study said that the community needed a place where residents could get training in new technologies. The Economic Development Administration is part of the Department of Commerce.
