Austin Breaking Ground on $6M Library Branch

AUSTIN-Ground breaks this weekend on the 16,000-sf David E. Ruiz library branch in Austin's southeast submarket. The project, carrying a summer 2003 ribbon cutting, will create the city's largest branch in the network.

AUSTIN-The city of Austin prepares to kick off work on the largest branch in the city’s library system with a weekend ground-breaking. The 16,000-sf David E. Ruiz branch will go up at 1600 Grove Blvd. and replace the 5,079-sf branch in a shopping center at 2410 Riverside Dr.

The library will serve the Riverside and Montopolis neighborhoods in southeast Austin. The $6-million library will include adult and youth computer facilities, public meeting rooms, education facilities and art exhibit space. It is expected to open in summer 2003.
